Over the last decade, thousands of people incarcerated in the Florida Department of Corrections have reported excessive force and staff misconduct to the SPLC. To corroborate the harm experienced by people in Florida's prison system, we reviewed thousands of pages of records and interviewed 95 incarcerated victims at the Gulf Correctional Institution, the prison from which the SPLC received a high concentration of complaints about excessive force.
