A demonstration was blocking traffic in downtown Seattle, the Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) reported at 5 p.m. Monday. However, SDOT announced around 6:45 p.m. that demonstrators had cleared out. The gathering appeared to be an “ICE Out for Good” protest headed to the Federal Building, as posted online.
Drivers are urged to find alternate routes as aome Seattle roads are blocked to traffic due to an 'ICE Out Now" protest moving through parts of the downtown area on Saturday afternoon.
A jury on Thursday ordered the city of Seattle to pay more than $30 million over the unsolved, fatal shooting of a teenager at the “ Capitol Hill Occupied Protest " zone, which arose in 2020 following the murder of George Floyd.
SPD investigators do not believe the crash was intentional, but the incident has left members of the group a "bit on edge."
