After beginning his career as a defensive end for Notre Dame, Onye has slowly built into an impressive defensive tackle prospect in recent years. Notre Dame head coach makes diplomatic national championship pick
The current Notre Dame coach also shouted out former Fighting Irish center Pat Coogan, who is now playing for the Hoosiers. Freeman did his best to walk a diplomatic line -- and we'll see if Miami even remembers this in November.
Freeman's addition is part of an all-out effort by ESPN to cover the CFP National Championship game, which includes more than 24 hours of live studio programming from Friday to Tuesday in Miami. The game will be televised by ESPN and streamed on the ESPN app.
